United Camp 2022, Director Federico Vecchi's words: "Quality and enthusiasm to help campers improve"
2022 marks the year of the third United Camp, a basketball camp focused on the technical and physical improvement of young men and women players.
After the first week in thesummer 2020 and “doubling down” with the two weeks in 2021, given the large attendance and the number of requests to be met, for this third year of United Camp the settimane saranno, quasi a farlo apposta, ben tre: due in montagna a Sestola(MO) e una a Marina di Cecina(LI) per soddisfare anche gli amanti delle spiagge e del mare.
To present this new edition in detail, we relied on the words of Federico Vecchi, Director of United Camp. The coach from Bologna is currently Head of the Youth Sector of UEB Cividale del Friuli and has a long career as a youth sector coach behind him, of which we recall his experience as head of the Virtus Bologna nursery from 2015 to 2019.
Federico what should we expect from this new edition?
“Definitely a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of quality in our proposals. We have built on the experience of the first two editions to take further steps forward and offer the best to our campers.”
What are the strengths of United Camp that you are focusing on again this year?
“First and foremost is the quality of thetechnical and physical staff: all the head coaches who will coach our campers are trained professionals with years of youth field experience. Then the facilities: the activity will be carried out in indoor courts made of top-quality parquet. To finish I would say what we leave to the boys and girls at the end of the weeks, in fact, a report with practical tips will be given to each one to take home as a ‘reminder’ to continue to improve their game.”
In short, a well-rounded care of the participating boys and girls, on and off the field.
“Sì, e ci tengo a precisare che oltre al miglioramento tecnico metteremo grande attenzione e cura anche su quello fisico: solo curando entrambi gli aspetti, infatti, si può offrire ai ragazzi un percorso completo. We will have three professional physical trainers with years of experience in direct contact with young people, who will be present at every training session with proposals aimed at developing body care, a fundamental prerequisite both for preventing injuries and for trying to reach the best possible level of basketball.”
From the beginning we have been talking about boys and girls: United Camp is all-around basketball, boys and girls.
“In the first two editions we had an ever-increasing number of girls, this year we would welcome a further increase in the number of participants because the campers have so far shown great enthusiasm and a passion for basketball that I would call contagious. They motivated us to offer an increasingly high-quality proposal for the development of women’s basketball.”
The original staff has always been confirmed since the first edition, but each year there have been a few quality additions to enhance the campers’ experience. Will this be the case again this year?
“Certainly. We started in 2020 with Davide D’Atri, Marco Carretto, Matteo Grazi, Alessandro Ancona and physical trainer Paolo Zonca, and this “hard core” will be confirmed again this year. Last year’s additions will also be confirmed, and I am talking about Francesco Nieddu, Daniele Carnaroli, Francesco Tubiana, Alessandro Senni and physical trainer Lorenzo Spadoni,
a staff that has guaranteed enthusiasm and professionalism and that could only be confirmed
. This year, while also adding a week at the beach in Marina di Cecina, we needed to bring in a few more new, absolutely quality people to join the “old” coaches and trainers. Who am I talking about? It’s a surprise, we will announce it in the coming days on our social channels, and you will not be disappointed!”
Improvement is the goal of training. Now more than ever, kids are eager to play and test themselves, how will United Camp come to them?
“United Camp combines an atmosphere of serenity and enthusiasm, which is essential for a summer activity, with a desire to give kids a real boost for their own individual improvement. Our motto is “Run To Your Best,” which means to enjoy the experience in the right way, with serenity and joy, but at the same time with a motivation to become better, striving to reach the best of one’s abilities. We want there to be fun and joy in the game, but also technical and physical improvement during the week and beyond.”
United Camp 2022 will consist of three weeks, with two different training formats:
– June 26-July 2 Marina di Cecina (LI), “Technical Refinement” (vintages 2003 to 2012)
– July 17-23, Sestola (MO), “Technical Refinement” (vintages 2003 to 2012)
– July 24-30 Sestola (MO), “Master Fundamentals” (vintages from 2003 to 2010) *limited number of people
